The partnership of Barlow Lyde & Gilbert in Hong
Kong is a separate but affiliated undertaking of Barlow Lyde
& Gilbert LLP. Its office is located in the heart of the
Central district and was opened in 1986. Since
then, it has expanded in response to clients' increasing
need for representation across the Asia-Pacific region and now has
more than 30 lawyers with a wealth of combined experience in
south-east Asia.
The Hong Kong practice is international in nature and has
strong links throughout Asia-Pacific, Europe and the USA.
Many of the lawyers are multilingual
in languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian and French
and qualified in Hong Kong, Australia, England and Wales, Italy and
New Zealand.
The Hong Kong practice is broad

team provides the full ambit of secretarial services, typically for
the Hong Kong subsidiaries of foreign-based clients. The team also

Insurance
As a leading contentious and
non-contentious insurance practice in Hong Kong, the
team acts for the main professional indemnity insurers and
schemes, most of the major general insurers and several Hong
Kong-based life insurers. It also acts for the specialist aviation
and space insurance and reinsurance markets in Europe and the
United States.
The specialist insurance team is held in high regard not only for
its claims work but also for its expertise in non-contentious and
regulatory insurance matters including risk management training and
contingency planning.

resolution
This team represents numerous
corporate and personal clients in a broad range of commercial
disputes. These range from relatively modest
debt collections to substantial and technically-complex disputes
